Defining the problem: the way to master business math

Article Abstract:

Solving mathematical problems in the business world is likely to require developing one's own analytical methods rather than being presented with a clear-cut list of problems. Calculations should be based on solid details, and it is important to have a clear understanding of the true nature of the problem. When information has been gathered, assumptions have been listed, and intended procedures have been written down, a presentation should be made to one's superior. The superior can then approve, disapprove, or modify the plan before extensive work is carried out.
