New haven's trade union plaza: "By working people for working people"

Article Abstract:

Blocks from Yale University, nine buildings, which were formerly known as Trade Union Plaza (TUP), are to be renamed to be called University Village. The extent to which the crisis in affordable, housing has its roots in both racist real estate practices, and the destruction of what historian Lawrence Goodwyn calls 'movement culture' is explored.
