Employers ignore employees' substance abuse

Article Abstract:

A survey by the Institute of Personnel and Development (IPD) found that drug abuse by workers in the UK may be more prevalent than employers realise. 15% of personnel managers have received reports of illegal drugs being used by employees over the past year and the IPD calls on organisations not to be complacent about the growing problem. Chief Inspector David Williams of the Greater Manchester Police drug prevention unit, believes employers do not take the problem seriously enough and believes they should implement policies to cover substance abuse, including alcohol misuse.
