Employers seek to oppose arbitration system

Article Abstract:

The services of the independent third-party arbitration and mediation in the reformed 1990 Greek collective bargaining system is under danger with opposition from the SBBE employer's federation. The system which establishes a rule of compulsory arbitration in a standstill bargaining situation is criticized by the employers, that it breaches the principle of free collective bargaining.

Tough bargaining round

Article Abstract:

Social partner representatives, in Greece, met to discuss the national collective agreement of year 2004, which provides for minimum wages, salaries and basic employment standards. There are diverse views over the introduction of the 39 hour week proposed in the agreement while employers have not taken favorably to the unions' demands for a eight percent increase in pay.

Collective bargaining in 2003

Article Abstract:

The multi-sector level agreements at the 2003 collective bargaining round in France, which focused on vocational training and supplementary pension plans, are discussed. The agreements on various issues like rules of agreement approvals, pay bargaining, work time, multi-sector, company level and bargaining in public sector enterprises are predominantly discussed.
