Expatriate or local bosses? HCN subordinates' preferences in leadership behaviour

Article Abstract:

Recent research has used a sample of 240 middle managers in Hong Kong to assess host-country national (HCN) subordinates' preferences in leadership behaviour, looking at both expatriate and local bosses. It was found that subordinate managers tend to look upon the leadership behaviour of their expatriate superiors as considerably closer to that of their perceived perfect superior. There was a clear preference for American leadership behaviour.
