Women face sexual harassment in majority of work places

Article Abstract:

A survey of 132 employers revealed that sexual harassment had been reported in 46% during the last year, all types and sizes of organisation being involved. Very few fraudulent claims were made but it is clear that the actual occurrence of harassment is even greater than these figures indicate. Employers generally regard it as a serious matter, nearly all considering it a disciplinary offence and nearly half sacking the offender when a case is upheld.

New disclosure law - firms face end of cover-up culture

Article Abstract:

The UK's Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998, which came into force on Jul 2, 1999, establishes a clear framework for voicing concerns about malpractice. It entitles whistleblowers to limitless compensation if they are dismissed or penalized by their employer. A number of conditions must be fulfilled for a whistleblower to make a public disclosure and be protected. These include not having made the disclosure for personal gain.
