How employers can reduce the cost of their disability programs

Article Abstract:

Employers can address the problems of rising disability costs such as workers' compensation and disability retirement by choosing the best disability insurance company and self-insuring. Moreover, obtaining input from senior management early in the process serves as an important element for slashing disability costs. Employers need to assess the effectiveness of their existing disability programs.

Workers' compensation in California: recent performance and outlook

Article Abstract:

The workers' compensation insurance industry in California has seen some significant developments after the state gained the reputation as a high-cost low-benefit program since the early 1990s. The industry should make the existing system for compensating permanent partial disabilities less partial and summary, and more constant. Improved management of the administrative system is important.

Managed disability - past, present and future

Article Abstract:

Employers and insurance companies would do well to invest the time and capital requried to have an effective managed disability program since disability claims are anticipated to remain on the rise as the working population matures. Insurance companies should realize they have the important opportunity to produce innovative disability insurance products.
