The struggle for the rights of undocumented workers is discussed in relation to the labor movement and opposition to anti-immigrant sentiment. Topics include the creation of undocumented immigrants as a special category of residents whose rights are denied, anti-immigrant legislation, the economics of undocumented immigration, the union struggles of immigrant workers, and the UN Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Migrants and Their Families.

The AFL-CIO convention held in Los Angeles, CA, in Oct 1999 concluded by passing a resolution that the US labor law preventing immigrant workers from joining unions should be repealed. Labor unions are organizing a campaign to support the rights of immigrant workers.
