Linking savings to house purchase?

Article Abstract:

A brief overview of the employee benefits system in Trinidad and Tobago is presented. Monthly paid employees in the country are often provided retirement benefits through employer-sponsored plans. In addition, all employees are given retirement pension by the earnings-related National Insurance System. A law may soon be passed which will allow members of pension plans to withdraw their contributions, with no tax penalty, and use the money for downpayments for house purchases.
