Make the HRIS more effective

Article Abstract:

Many companies currently have human resources information systems (HRIS), but often HRIS users complain that the systems do not function well. Some common user complaints include: the HRIS requires too much time for data entry; the HRIS does not generate useful reports; and the response time of the HRIS is too slow. Firms interested in evaluating their HRIS should look at the types of reports that are generated and ensure that all steps were completed during the HRIS implementation process. Stages in the implementation process include analysis, design, implementation, and auditing.

Does your HRS speak English?

Article Abstract:

Personnel departments need to satisfy managers' demands for increased access to human resources system (HRS) data without disrupting their organizations. To achieve the goal of bringing information directly to the decision makers, personnel professionals must evaluate the flexibility available in HRS technology, including information management and report writing, to ensure that non-technical personnel can access and use HRS. Personnel professionals will need to fine-tune the HRS technology and evaluate whether other package techniques can enhance HRS capabilities.
