Model whistleblowing policies launched

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom's Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 protects whistleblowing employees. Public Concern at Work, a leading organization in the field, states that employers with good whistleblowing policies face fewer claims. That organization and the Local Government Management Board have also released model whistleblowing policies. The act gives workers a new right not to face discrimination or dismissal if they blow the whistle on their employers in certain circumstances. It encourages employees to raise matters internally.
