Article Abstract:

An overview is presented of a case heard by the United States Supreme Court in 1999 which related to the benefits offered by the Hughes Aircraft Company to five retired employees. The employees brought a class action suit against the company, claiming violation of ERISA.

An overview is presented of a case heard by the United States Supreme Court relating to a scheme managed by the Humana Health Insurance company of Nevada. It was seen that a health insurer can be sued under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act (RICO).
