Patterns of growth and specialization in the executive search industry

Article Abstract:

Age and revenues determine the growth and specialization of executive search companies. The age of companies tend to be closely associated with the type of firm, functions and industries served with older firms most likely to assume retainer role that serve most functions and industries. Firms with higher earnings tend to have a retainer operation that serve most functions and industries. They are also most likely to have a global operation and managers that have high salary.

The impact of on-site mentoring on expatriate socialization: a structural equation modelling approach

Article Abstract:

Providing mentoring services for expatriate workers was found to help with socialization, settlement and productivity outcomes. Employees who had been helped to settle into a new job in a foreign country were found to have higher levels of job satisfaction than people who had no help in coming to terms with a new country and new job. Training before arrival in the new post was also found to have a positive effect on work outcomes.

Increasing the skill utilization of expatriates

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates means in which international corporations utilize the skills of expatriate employees in overseas assignments. The influence of skills on job attitudes and factors facilitating skill utilization are examined; the level of skill and teamwork in host country employees and the support of the company are also considered important factors.
