Pay determination in the Republic of Ireland: towards social corporatism?

Article Abstract:

Some observers believe that Ireland now has a social corporatist industrial relations system, and highlight the durability of the most recent round of centralized wage agreements to support their views. However, recent research has found that the functioning of the latest national pay deals in Ireland need not necessarily be seen as social corporatist. This is particularly the case given that none of the economic functions connected with the social corporatist model of the labour market have fully emerged in Ireland.

Integration theory and European labour markets

Article Abstract:

The single European market has resulted in greater integration of financial and product markets. The lack of integration in the labor markets poses problems in wage setting and has created social problems. The European Community's social program is necessary to develop integration of the labor market and for resultant economic benefits.

European integration and transnational management - union relations in the enterprise

Article Abstract:

The single European market may affect pan-European trade union pressure in transnational companies. Transnational collective bargaining is unlikely, but transnational consultation and information arrangements are expected to develop. Corporations are likely to restructure around product divisions that cut across national boundaries.
