Industrial relations in transition economies: emergent industrial relations institutions in Bulgaria

Article Abstract:

Newly structured industrial relations systems are being created in East European societies that are in transition to market economies. In Bulgaria, the industrial relations system has been formed by the relative lack of separation between the economy and the state. The economic crisis has affected all aspects of social life, including social relations, and although employers' organisations represent independent employers, the degree of independence is restricted.

Industrial relations: is France a special case?

Article Abstract:

The lack of joint settlement of labour disputes, weak and divided trade unions and ineffective industry-wide agreements are among features of the French system of industrial relations which can cause considerable difficulties. The system of representation has been simplified, but other problems appear to be becoming more serious. It is now time to find a new approach to union representation which will prevent unions losing yet more power.
