REACH is the acronym for the Registration, Evaluation And Authorization Of Chemicals Regulations which aims to establish a revised chemical regulatory system that will promote a sustainable future. It will ensure that all chemical substances and products are safe, environmentally friendly and do not damage the health of workers, customers or the general public.

MEPs vote to dilute chemical safety law

Article Abstract:

The European Parliament has voted to back the EU's proposed chemical safety regulations but has made amendments that would exempt many chemicals from mandatory testing. The vote on November 17, 2005 marks the stage in the progress of a law, which is fought over by industry lobbyists and environmental campaigners for more than two years.

Fatal accidents plague Greek construction boom

Article Abstract:

The construction sector in Greece is growing faster than the manufacturing sector. The provision of the safety officer and occupational physician applicable to all the construction sites is enforced by European Union (EU) safety legislation, but a delay in transposing EU safety and construction laws is reported.
