Sequential cross-cultural training for expatriate business managers: pre-departure and post-arrival

Article Abstract:

Businesses are becoming increasingly international and the role of human resources management is becoming pivotal, especially the need for cross-cultural capabilities. It is unclear whether pre-departure training can give international managers the necessary behavioral skills. A new study presents a theoretical model for the dynamics of host-culture adjustment and analyses its importance to cross-cultural training.

The Chinese in Britain: working towards success?

The UK's Chinese community has made rapid social and economic advances in recent years and the latest Policy Study Institute survey shows the Chinese top the UK's earnings table. A new study examines the influences of Chinese culture on the socio-economic achievements of the Chinese in Britain and examines the implications for human resources management.
