The Skandia case: a further step towards pan-European pensions

Article Abstract:

The consequences of the European Court of Justice's (ECJ) decision on the Skandia case, which may have given way to provision for occupational retirement across borders inside the European Union (EU) is reviewed. The Skandia case has lead to a breakthrough in cross-border pension provision, as EU insurers who wish to issue policies in other member states would not have to fear any unfavorable tax consequences as long as they abide by the national law.
