An legal case between Rutherford and another v Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (No.2) (3rd September 2004) wherein the Court of Appeal supports the Employment Appeal Tribunal's decision that no discrimination exists on the rights to claim unfair dismissal and redundancy pay as result of the statutory upper age limit of 65, is presented.

The European Commission has announced that it will initiate proceedings against five member states for failing to comply with the Framework Directive on racial discrimination (Directive2000/43).
