Wells Fargo's and IBM's HIV policies help protect employee's rights

Article Abstract:

Wells Fargo & Company and IBM Corp have personnel management policies that protect the rights of employees suffering from HIV-caused illnesses. Both companies provide for the education of all workers about the causes and transmission of the diseases and the needs and rights of HIV sufferers. Wells Fargo's personnel management guidelines ensure that medical information about employees suffering from an HIV condition is kept confidential, establishes contact with the the company's employee assistance services in order to work out job accommodations, and helps employees learn about HIV-related diseases. IBM's guidelines ensure that information concerning employees who have an HIV-caused illness will remain private, guarantees employees' right to work for as long as they are able to do their job, and confirms their eligibility for company benefits, including medical disability.

Ross employees are in the company of excellence

Article Abstract:

The Ross Laboratories (Columbus, OH) division of Abbott Laboratories Corp implemented an employee recognition program to reinforce its tradition of quality products. Any full-time Ross employee can nominate any other full-time employee, including themselves. A screening committee of employees reviews the nominations and selects Level I winners. Each quarter, employees vote for four Level II winners from among the Level I winners. At the end of the fourth quarter, a Level III winner is elected from among the Level II winners for the year. All winners at each level are awarded prizes at company ceremonies.

Beyond nuts and bolts

Article Abstract:

High technology firms interested in recruiting quality employees via advertising are recording positive results by using creativity and avoiding cliched images. Seven firms and their advertising campaigns are profiled to illustrate successful marketing methods, including Relational Technology Inc, Hewlett-Packard Co, and Stratus Computer Inc. The campaigns all acknowledge that high technology professionals are people, not just drones interested in computers, used innovative and attractive visuals, and conveyed effective corporate images through their advertising.
