B is for Baldrige

Article Abstract:

The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is awarded yearly, by the federal government, to two companies from the manufacturing, service and small business sectors. The Baldrige Award recognizes the successful implementation of a corporate-wide quality management program. Applicants for the award are judged by a panel of approximately 250 quality experts, who consider seven categories: leadership, information and analysis, strategic quality planning, human resources management, process quality management, quality and operational results, and customer satisfaction.

Economic revival in 1992: a sure thing

Article Abstract:

William C. Dudley, in an address to the Investment Section of the American Council of Life Insurance, predicted economic recovery for 1992. In fact, he foresaw rather vigorous economic growth for the last half of the year. He held such a confident view of the economy principally because of his belief that recent changes in monetary policy will stimulate demand. However, he realized that his economic forecast was not shared by everyone.
