Hong Kong's safe bet

Article Abstract:

The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club has undergone changes such as the appointment of the first ethnic Chinese chief executive, Lawrence Wong. The club is a major employer in Hong Kong and its stewards come from Hong Kong's elite. The club's annual revenue is 73 billion Hong Kong dollars, which is more than most listed Hong Kong companies. The club is also a significant contributor of tax revenue. China is to take over Hong Kong and has made a commitment that horseracing will not be interfered with, though there are some concerns as to the future of the club.
