How We Got Where We Are

Article Abstract:

The history of the insurance industry over the last fifty years is analyzed. Non-life coverages are developed based on need. Forces outside the industry have a strong impact on product development. All risk protection and consequential loss insurance are among the issues examined as they pertain to property insurance. From the casualty insurance viewpoint, various new types of liability coverages are analyzed. Legal aspects are also considered. Sufficient insurance capacity is an important concern.

New Directions in Telemarketing

Article Abstract:

Salesnet, a division of Dun and Bradstreet, is helping Connecticut General Life develop market strategy with its telemarketing system. Salesnet was able to point out agents who were selling Connecticut General products aggressively. Salesnet helped develop employee benefit programs by identifying customer needs. It was also helpful in matching agents with clients. Salesnet helped Connecticut General better its internal sales operations.

Insuring the Data Processing Risk

Data processing risks vary. Answering basic questions help determine exposures. Computer losses can be extensive. Workable disaster recovery plans are important. Underwriters need to understand the risk. The issue of breakdown coverage redundancies needs to be resolved. The fast pace of technology makes proper risk underwriting difficult. Legal questions regarding liability are increasing.
