The fine art of fine arts coverage
Article Abstract:
The well-publicized theft of paintings valued at $250 million from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, MA, has served as a wake-up call for the insurance industry covering fine art and for the museums as well. Even though the museum was not insured at that time, the incident caused insurance companies to reevaluate their coverage of what has been previously considered as low risk. Offerings for such coverage have increased due to the resultant high demand for such products.
