Participating policyholder rights: the next challenge

Article Abstract:

The life insurance industry may soon have to clarify their policyholders' participation rights. Additionally, these insurers sometimes obscure how they make distributions allocated to their policyholders.

CD/policy loan offers bank-product alternative

Article Abstract:

Insurance agents can compete with burgeoning bank sales of insurance by marketing life insurance policy loans to offset portfolio investment income. The policy loan strategy benefits investors by potentially reducing income taxes by 80% or more over a 15-to-20 year period on certain investments and providing the security of a certificate of deposit. The strategy benefits agents by providing multiple commissions.
