Restoring individual DI

Article Abstract:

Insurance companies are responsible for downturns in the individual disability insurance market, but insurers have the means to restore profitability. Some of the reasons why insurers lost money with their individual disability insurance products include increasing replacement ratios without increasing premiums, understaffed claims processing departments and inadequate study systems. Ways insurers can resume profitability include changing prices and accessing better financial underwriting information.

NHI: it's better than you think

Article Abstract:

A national health insurance system (NHI) in the US would eliminate current health care system problems while providing a major role for the health insurance industry. All other developed nations guarantee medical care to their citizens through mutual aid societies governed by insurance companies. A number of systems to secure adequate health care for all Americans have been proposed. The most promising would link NHI to the Social Security system.

Timely medicine for the LTC crisis

Article Abstract:

The funding of private insurance for long-term care (LTC) patients must come from the states for middle-income households. State governments would be repaid by patients' heirs. The majority of LTC patients are the aged and about 50% of these are middle-class. These middle class retirees can't afford adequate LTC insurance and don't qualify for current state medical programs.
