Tracking an insurance turnaround in Argentina

Article Abstract:

A stable economy, insurance liberalization, the abolition of the state-run retirement system and a favorable business environment among Mercosur countries have made Argentina's life and property/casualty insurance industry a viable investment site. A number of major insurers and reinsurers have set up operations in the country, including Chase Manhattan and Zurich Re's joint venture with banco Provincia, the Newbridge Group investment fund's acquisition of the Bristol Group and Banco Nazionale del Lavoro's $200 million investment in the Juncal Group.

Estate tax planning is also one of the riskier types of business conducted by certified public accountants (CPA) in terms of liability. CPAs should take care in conducting estate tax planning by consulting other experts when necessary and leaving legal issues to attorneys.
