An analysis of the military threats across the Taiwan Straight: fact or fiction

Article Abstract:

This article examines the tense military relations between China and Taiwan, focusing on how Taiwan's push for sovereignty has motivated threats of military action from Beijing. The author argues that China does not have the military supplies to carry out its threats of invasions, missile strikes and blockades.

This article considers the massive environmental problems that face China as a result of rapid industrialization and insufficient environmental controls. The international aspects of pollution are analyzed, as well as US policy towards China with regard to environmental regulations.
