An international 'norm' against nuclear weapons? The British case

Article Abstract:

This article examines the United Kindom's policy on nuclear arms control and the public opinion of such policies. The author asserts that there is little public debate over or interest in the issue of disarmament, claiming that nuclear weapons are seen as an unfortunate necessity in an uncertain world, and that forces are maintained based on Britain's technoscepticism and lack persuassive argument for disarmament.

The need for a Japanese nuclear deterrent

Article Abstract:

This article addresses national security issues of the Japanese state, which the author believes would be better served if Japan admitted publicly to the possession of and responsibility for nuclear weapons. Issues include the absence of U.S. security guarantees, specifically in the form of nuclear deterrence, and the need for Japan to establish its own security, rather than relying on other nations.
