Corruption, reconstruction and oil governance in Iraq

Article Abstract:

The challenges of oil governance and reconstruction in Iraq are discussed with main focus on the role of corruption and the record of the Coalition Provisional Authority. Iraq's political legacy, oil dependence and transition under US occupation suggest that the new Iraqi regime might again rest on corruption-based patronage, a type more accommodating to US interests.

BP in Azerbaijan: A test case of the potential and limits of the CSR agenda?

Article Abstract:

The article reveals that corporate efforts of BP to promote social development and alleviate inequality and poverty by developing macro-level corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies, are undermined by Azerbaijan's economic policies, corruption and lack of transparency on government's spending of oil revenues.
