Defense industrial policy in a military alliance

Article Abstract:

The potential for defense industrial policies in military alliances is studied with the focus on the European Union (EU) as a developing alliance through its European Security and Defense Policy (ESDP). An examination of the procurement policies in the EU and NATO reveals several inefficiencies that go to underline the importance of achieving cost savings and other benefits from the adoption of a more efficient defense industrial policy within an alliance.

Assessing the contingency model of third-party intervention in successful cases of prenegotiation

Article Abstract:

The contingency model is an idealized representation of a highly complex reality. The model is thus seen as an idealized representation of a complex reality, but one that identifies some of the necessary interplay between official and unofficial interventions in order to effectively address intractable ethno-political conflicts.
