Global governance: poorly done and poorly understood

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the impact of globalization and democratization on international relations, considering the inequalities that the globalization process has created and the failures of attempts at democratization; the political forces organizing the structure of global governance are evaluated. The dominance of neo-liberalism among elite, transnational intergovernmental organizations are working to create new regimes of international integration; scholarly research in the field of social movements provide insight into the ethical issue of global governance.

Political theory and international relations: promised land or exit from Eden?

This article discusses the relationship between political theory and international relations, which has evolved into a new literature termed international political theory and runs the risk of becoming inappropriately narrow and unnecessary due to contemporary economic and political factors. The author outlines the history of academic theories of international relations and politics, its current state and possibilities for future studies, emphasizing the dangers of developing a hyper-rationalist approach.

Apocalypse now? Continuities or disjunctions in world politics after 9/11

Article Abstract:

A study argued that the widespread assumption that the events of world politics since 9/11 symbolize a radical break in world politics is wrong. The argument is discussed with reference to the geo-political configuration of world politics, the ideological shape of world politics, ideas and assumptions about the use of force in world politics and the relationship between civil liberty and security.
