Reconceptualizing the migration - development nexus: Diasporas, globalization and the politics of exclusion

Article Abstract:

Studies indicate that the presence of a large expatriate African population comprises a potentially exploitable, if undeveloped, resource that represents a significant developmental challenge for the continent. Diasporas have a significant role to play in development on the African continent and new basis for understanding this role in development is provided.

Challenges to the theory and practice of polyarchy: the rise of the political left in Korea

Article Abstract:

The development of democracy in Korea since 1987 and its implications for critical analyses of Third World democratization is described. The relationship between the Korean Democratic Labour Party and the mass labour movement when examined shows that the development of such mass movements has been limited.
