The European Union and Mercosur: a case of inter-regionalism

Article Abstract:

The article examines the relationship between the European Union and its South American counterpart, Mercosur, focusing on trade and invest, international negotitations, and institutional dimensions. The author finds that the most influential results come from the political 'pillar' of reference on trade issues, with the EU functioning as a 'road map' for Mercosur; the relationship between the two is considered to play a role in the process of shaping regionalism and globalization.

Facing the giant: Southern perspectives on the European Union

Article Abstract:

Studies are conducted in Brazil, India and South Africa into how the European Union is perceived by the emerging markets and the developing world. Findings reveal that the EU is an unknown entity to most citizens in these countries, it is criticized in the area of international trade and praised for its success in regional integration.

The Cotonou Agreement defines the new relationship between the European Union (EU) and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states.The significant changes represented by the Contou Agreement are highlighted and some of the dangers that may result for the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states are emphasized.
