The transatlantic way ahead: U.S. readiness problems show why European capabilities will be so important

Article Abstract:

This article examines the need of European countries to strength their military in order to deal with internal conflicts rather than relying on U.S. military intervention, and to stabilize the U.S. role as the world's only 'superpower'. The author also suggests that American military interventions in Europe are beyond its national self-interest and have negative consequences on its armed forces.
