A learned profession: law students need grounding in values, responsibilities of the law

Article Abstract:

Current law school curricula emphasize the intellectual aspects of law which fails to prepare law students for the human, moral and social aspects once they attempt to practice. Law students need to learn about the values law is founded upon and that it needs to be supported by public sentiment. Law is a living structure that is modified with each new decision and so cannot be perceived of as solely for dispute resolution. Therefore, an improved curricula would require community service and coursework similar to a medical internship.
