Address book and word processor integration

Article Abstract:

Software Studios' $89 Client Manager 3.1 address database add-on is an excellent product for managing client information that integrates well with Microsoft Word 6.0 and 7.0 and WordPerfect for Windows 6.1 and 7.0. The QuickInsert function allows users to easily add formatted information to word processing documents. QuickDocs are pre-formatted merge documents, and the Merge function allows users to add data from Client Manager to a merge file in a word processor. The software may also be used to share information across a network, and it allows users to govern access rights by creating subsets and specifying which users have access to those subsets. Version 3.1 is more flexible than previous versions, since users may choose the fields that display in the Client Information Viewer. The Find feature has been improved to store the parameters of the last search performed.

An evaluation is presented of Gavel and Gown Software's Amicus Attorney 3.0, a case load management application. The software is priced at $299 and $149 or $99 for upgrades. The 32-bit program offers full HotSync integration with 3Com's PalmPilot. The software's biggest drawback is the limited Web site and e-mail address slots it provides.
