Bargaining for privacy in the unionized workplace

Article Abstract:

The effect of collective bargaining in the privacy protection for the employees in the US, where the employee privacy is increasingly invaded by the employers, with few legal protections for the employees is discussed. The labour representatives in the European Union are more proactive towards protecting employee privacy and they have greater legal rights of consultation with employers are compared to the U.S where the power of labour unions is limited.

Labour relations at the workplace: The experience of Southern Africa

Article Abstract:

The role of shopfloor worker institutions in relations with trade unions, collective bargaining and dispute settlement in eight Southern African countries is studied. It is also seen that no uniform system exists in Southern Africa and trade unions play a substantial role in shopfloor work representation, which in turn offers no express powers to shopfloor institutions and affects the level of collective bargaining at that level.

Implementing the Information and Consultation Directive in Great Britain: A new voice at work

Article Abstract:

The characteristics of the new voice given to employees and the way it would fit with the existing legal framework is analyzed. The aim is to demonstrate that the government has adapted to the new Directive by undertaking a thorough process of preparation for the final regulatory norms.
