Boom time for lawyers; demand is so heavy recruiters are hard put to find enough job-seekers to go around

Article Abstract:

The US hiring market for attorneys is excellent, so much so that recruiters complain of a shortage of top candidates. Methods of meeting the demand include record-level law firm salaries, increasing use of public relations to draw top candidates and, in some cases, accepting less-qualified personnel. The best legal practice areas include corporate, real estate, and intellectual property, fed by good economic conditions in the last few years. Employment opportunities in other legal practice areas are listed.

Legal search firms are listed by state. The listing for each company includes information on date founded, number of recruiters that place lawyers, placement of attorneys as percentage of business, 1994 placements, involvement in mergers, consulting services, and fees. An alphabetic index is also included. About 90 legal search firms are listed.
