Castles in the sky for architects who don't register; filing an application for plans is a key step in protecting rights and barring derivative designs

Article Abstract:

The importance of regitering even schematic architectural designs with the US Copyright Office is discussed, as this is a prerequisite for filing a claim for copyright infringement. Architects should register copyrights in completed projects once the construction drawings have been finalized.The threat of a copyright infringement action is an effective weapon for the architect to wield.

New generic top-level domain names coming soon; some of the 7 gTLDs will have a daybreak period that allows mark owners to register first

Article Abstract:

ICANN's attempt to ease domain-name overcrowding by approving 7 new top-level domain names is discussed. The daybreak period would allow trademark and service mark owners time to register their marks as domain names before opening the domain to the general public.
