Class actions are the '90's form of greenmail

Article Abstract:

Although class actions have legitimate applications, they often become little more that moneymaking ventures for the attorneys filing them. This is the opinion of one attorney who has defended his clients against class actions. This attorney asserts that because the class action filing lawyer has little client supervision, there is little incentive to settle these claims.

Law firm sues litigation-finance firm; sexual assault civil trial underlies the case

Article Abstract:

A legal fees case pending in a North Carolina court claiming that a litigation finance company sabotaged a $1 mil pre-trial settlement offer of a sexual assault case and cost a law firm more than $325,000 is discussed.

Grounded by the IRS; the Ninth Circuit ruled that two IRS lawyers committed fraud in a tax case

A 9th Circuit case against two IRS attorneys charging them with commmitting fraud on the U.S. Tax Court is discussed. Thw 9th Circuit deplored the action of the IRS agents.
