Clearing the path to an AIDS vaccine: an important contribution

Article Abstract:

Christine Grady successfully weaves together the history, science, policy problems and issues related to epidemiology, ethics, virology, vaccinology and clinical research in her book about the search for an AIDS vaccine. Negotiating an AIDS vaccine

Article Abstract:

Christine Grady looks at the ethical issues surrounding the development and testing of an AIDS vaccine in her new book. Although her book remains a meaningful contribution, however, her analysis of ethical dilemmas is not as deep as one would have wished. Despite these, her suggestions regarding a community-based ethics consisting of town meetings, risk-benefit analysis and participation of community leaders are most welcome.
