Filemaker Inc's $249 FileMaker pro 5.0 is an easy-to-work-with database package, compatible with Windows and Macintosh computers, that is especially recommended for Internet/intranet use. It is not recommended for users who need a powerful relational database. Microsoft's $339 Microsoft Access 2000 is noteworthy for its importing capabilities. It has a significant learning curve.

Three graphics software products are evaluated: Corel Corp's $499 CorelDraw 10.0 Graphics Suite; Adobe Systems' $399 Adobe Illustrator 9.0; and Lotus Development's $399 Lotus Freelance Graphics Millennium Edition. All are recommended. Adobe Illustrator is especially recommended for Internet/intranet use, and Lotus Freelance Graphics is noteworthy for being easy to learn.
