Defeating dissatisfaction; stressed-out lawyers taught to balance work with pleasure at self-help workshops

Article Abstract:

Law firms are acknowledging that the emotional and social-familial parts of lawyers' lives need attention by sponsoring self-help workshops and employing psychological consultants. This trend is understandable since studies show that lawyers are the professionals most prone to depression, that substance abuse and malpractice are connected, and that lawyers seem more jealous of their colleagues who leave the profession. Workshops offered by clinical psychologist Everett Moitoza and attorney Jon Levy in Portsmouth, NH offer practical techniques for balancing professional and personal lives.

Not your everyday jock: ex-Ram, former Rhodes scholar Pat Haden shines as NFL sportscaster

Article Abstract:

Former Rhodes scholar and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Pat Haden rarely uses the law degree he earned while a professional athlete. Instead he spends most of his time as a partner in the venture capital firm Riordan, Lewis & Haden, investing Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan's money in start-up companies. The energetic Haden is also an acclaimed NFL football analyst for Turner Sports, sits on seven corporate boards, and does charity work, all without neglecting his wife and four children.
