Experts helped pick King jury; L.A. cop defense

Article Abstract:

Litigation Science Inc, a consulting firm, helped pick jurors who might be friendly to the defense in the trial of four Los Angeles policemen accused of using excessive force on Rodney King. The prosecutors, Alan Yockelson and Terry L. White, feel that this technique did not help the defense. Robert Hirschhorn, however, one of the directors of the trial consulting firm Cathy Bennett and Associates of Galveston, TX, disagrees and thinks the prosecution could have used his help.

Consultants are hired, dropped; in L.A., police conduct probe

Article Abstract:

The panel created to look into police performance during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, fearing adverse public reaction, has abandoned plans to work with Litigation Sciences Inc, the firm that helped with jury selection in the trial of the policemen accused of using excessive force on Rodney King. This step was taken in spite of the fact that those panelists who could be contacted had no problems with the consulting firm's dual roles.
