Full and fair resolution of whistleblower issues: the Hanford Joint Council for resolving employee concerns, a pilot ADR approach

Article Abstract:

The Hanford Joint Council for Resolving Employee Concerns, a new program at the Hanford Nuclear Site in Washington State, uses alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods to resolve conflicts between whistleblowing employees and management. This is the nuclear industry's first attempt to use ADR principles to settle safety issues in a manner less costly and more mutually satisfactory than litigation. Hanford's program, though currently limited to contractor employees, provides a model for ADR approaches to whistleblowing.
