Getting out from under

Article Abstract:

Lawyers are aprticularly susceptible to excessive debt because marketers target them, they feel a need to keep up appearances, and they are trained to be aggressive. Student loans, homes, cars, and credit cards cause the largest debt problems for most. Houses should be regarded as expenses, not investments, and new cars avoided. Credit cards can be useful, but a lack of cash to pay them off each month is a danger sign. Ultimately lawyers, like others, should strive to live below their means, and save regularly.

Used wheels making sense; automakers have a glut of off-lease luxury cars and are ready to deal

Article Abstract:

Buying a used car makes more sense in 1996 than ever because of the large supply of cars coming from new-car lease programs and national user car chains' attack on the domination of the trade by local dealers. The cars from lease programs are in many cases barely used and the pressure they put on prices to decrease is even making companies offer incentives. The oversupply of off-lease cars is even making some automakers offer used car warranties.

Get 'em while they're lukewarm: private, undervalued brewery stocks are one way investors can make a splash

Article Abstract:

Lawyers seeking good investments can make use of private brewery stocks which are undervalued. This is exemplified by recent initial public offerings from microbreweries. Finding such offerings can be complicated in itself, but firms exist which advise on companies on initial public offerings, and they can also advise potential investors.
