Has the practice the common identity to create a program of development?

Article Abstract:

The cost of undergraduate education added to that of law school and that to any specialized training yields a difference in the price of a top-notch education and an inferior one of about $150,000 per lawyer. These results of the ABA task force on 'Legal Education and Professional Development - An Educational Continuum' are supplemented by in-depth analyses of the diverse functions performed by lawyers. Many of these functions diverge from the concept of law as taught in the leading universities and should not be neglected in the education of a well-rounded lawyer.

State-by-state of CLE

Article Abstract:

Continuing legal education (CLE) as a mandatory requirement for state or local bar licensure may lead to de facto residency requirements, though the former de jure ones were thrown out by the US Supreme Court. CLE providers have an interest in getting registered as the only authorized provider, and states' bars will start insisting their members get CLE only from the state- authorized provider. Thus licensure in multiple states will mean getting CLE in each, quickly leading to effective abandonment of multi-state licensure.

A report suggests reforms to improve both competence and professional values

Article Abstract:

The ABA Section of Legal Education's Task Force on Law Schools and the Profession has issued a report defining legal education and training as a continuum starting before law school and continuing throughout a legal career. The report suggests that law schools place greater emphasis on teaching practice skills, both during law school and in postgraduate clinical programs like apprenticeships. The report suggests that mentoring during these programs could inculcate professional values as well as technical skills.
