The new operating systems: Windows 95 vs. OS 2 Warp Connect

Article Abstract:

The final beta release of Windows 95 offers some appealing features, but it contains certain design problems when compared with IBM's OS 2 Warp Connect operating system. Windows 95 is easier to install than previous Windows versions and automatically adds most hardware, but OS 2 installation has proven to be less troublesome on some configurations. Network installation with Windows 95 can lead to trouble with conflicting NetWare and system commands and causes crashes in some instances. OS 2's networking features are on a par with Windows 95 and can also be unpredictable. Despite being the latest and greatest in graphical based software, Windows 95 still makes extensive use of text in its menus and command structure. OS 2 provides a superior implementation of graphical tools and provides more versatile control for objects.
