BNA Software's BNA 706 Preparer for Windows streamlines Federal Estate Tax return Form 706 data entry and collection processes. Designed by the Bureau of National Affairs, the application operates on Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 and costs $795 and $995 for single user editions and network editions, respectively. The program allows users to perform data entry directly onto the tax forms, and it includes a Diagnostic Message menu item that tallies incomplete items both during and after return preparation. Schedule M of the return provides a key specialized calculation feature that lists the surviving spouse's bequests. 706 Preparer calculates all state taxes and, once the appropriate state data is entered, the application inputs the credit amount on the return.
